Asset Associations
An association can be created between any two assets in the system and can be used to keep a track of real-world circumstances that affect the assets. While viewing an Asset, expanding the 'Actions' menu gives the option to associate the Asset that the user is currently viewing, with another Asset:
Selecting the option 'Associate To Another Asset' displays a pop-up window called 'Link Asset' as shown below:
The 'Relation' drop-down window lists the available Asset Associations:
All associations for a specific asset can be viewed on the asset's Dashboard in the 'Asset Associations' box.
The following table explains the Relationships listed in the drop-down menu:
Relationship | Example |
Relates to | The asset is related in some way to another asset, such as a Water Service Line asset within a park asset. |
Obstructs | The asset blocks another asset, like a gate preventing access to a fire access road. |
Is Obstructed by | The asset is blocked by another asset, such as a sewer manhole blocked by a maintenance shed. |
Is Split from | The asset was created by splitting a part of another asset into a new stand-alone asset, such as a road segment being split from a larger road segment as a result of a partial treatment. |
Is Split To | The asset was formerly managed as one entity but has now had a part split off into a new asset, such as a park asset whose playground is now managed separately. |
Is Child Of | The asset is part of a larger asset, such as a building on a parcel of land. |
Is Parent Of | The asset contains one, or more, smaller child assets such as a sewer treatment plant being a parent of a sewer pump and other plant and equipment assets. |
Merged Into | The asset was formerly managed separately but is now treated as part of a larger asset, such as two segments of a road now being managed as one. |
Merged From | The asset was created by merging other Assets together, such as a park asset that previously was divided into North and South segment assets. |
